“The Chiang Mai Project” raised money for two Thai charities by bringing together North-American and Thai actors to present fundraising performances in Chiang Mai, Thailand. All money raised from the performances was donated to the Vieng Ping Children's Home and the Friends of the Asian Elephant.
While the program provided the actors with an opportunity for cultural exchange, it also raised international awareness about two byproducts of Thailand’s industrialization: an increase in the number of orphans who are born HIV+ and the rapid extinction of the Thai Asian Elephant.
Sharon Guilliat, the founder of “The Chiang Mai Project,” handpicked D.V.A. Productions to produce a promotional video illustrating how a committed group of performing artists can heal communities and the environment. Production began in Fall 2007. Please look for the premiere in Fall 2008.
