Beginning in the 1980s, Reality TV shows have swept the country. Despite the criticism about the exploitive subject matter, Reality TV shows keep appearing. In fact, every cable station seems to have their own version of "reality" they hype up during prime-time family viewing hours. Each year the depictions of "reality" get farther off-base, but because of their supposed "realism," few ask about what goes on behind the scenes… until now.
Consequently, Windy Borman developed, produced and directed, "American Dreamgirl," a "mockumentary" about what goes on behind-the-scenes of the Reality TV cameras. By witnessing the journey along with the contestants of "American Dreamgirl," the video exposes the secrets of what can really happen, including the gender relations and the female-to-female oppression that occurs behind-the-scenes.
