Julianna Carella | Treatibles and Auntie Dolores
In 2008 entrepreneur, innovator, visionary and expert Julianna Carella married her more than 20 years of culinary work with cannabis and established Auntie Dolores. Her line of delicious, healthy and effective gourmet medical marijuana infused edibles helped set the standard in the health space. In 2013 she established Treatibles, a nutraceutical line of products for pets. What began as an offshoot of Auntie Dolores has blossomed into a vital business. Treatibles now features a full line of products including four flavors of hard chews, dropper bottles and gel caps. All products are Compassion Certified, made from human-grade ingredients and contain quantified amounts of CBD. The phytocannabinoid rich oil is sourced and extracted from medicinal grade hemp grown in the USA. Treatibles is available nationwide.
Julianna, a San Francisco native, is an avid proponent of health freedom and an activist in the cannabis community. Her knowledge of both cannabis and hemp is unsurpassed.
What social justice and/or criminal justice reforms do you want the US to make around its drug policy, particularly around cannabis?
While the acceptance of cannabis as viable treatment for a myriad of health issues is making headway at the state level, the federal government is still behind. Decriminalizing cannabis needs to be a priority. Cannabis is no longer the means to unjustly destroy lives by locking up innocent people, usually of color.
Why are environmentally sustainable business practices essential to the future of the cannabis industry?
In my opinion, the regulators of the cannabis should consider balancing packaging requirements for safety, and the carbon footprint that excessive plastic and overuse of erroneous packaging materials has on our planet. In fact, a true revolution would be to allow for the development of hemp-based plastics and require cannabis companies and all other food product companies to package their products this way!
